About the program

The NSW Cultural Exchange Programs in Schools initiative was first established in 2004 by the NSW Government. It is a cross-sectoral project involving the NSW Department of Education and Training, the NSW Catholic Education Commission and the Association of Independent Schools NSW. The project is managed by the NSW Department of Education and Training on behalf of all NSW schools.

Cultural exchange programs aim to promote greater understanding, respect and acceptance amongst students from diverse backgrounds. Programs may be curriculum based, cross-curriculum initiatives or projects which address specific local needs.
